Dipping Spice
1 TBSP minced basil
1 TBSP chopped parsley
1 TBSP minced 

garlic
1 t. dried thyme
1 t. dried oregano
1 t. black pepper
1/2 t. salt
1/2 t. rosemary
1/4 t. red pepper flakes
1/2t. olive oil
1/8 t. lemon juice
Mix ingredients together and enjoy with warm bread.
Italian Bread
1 1/4 teaspoon yeast
pinch of sugar
1 1/4 cup plus 1 1/2 TBSP luke warm water
3 cups flour
1 teaspoon salt
1 TBSP shortening
olive oil to grease bowl
Dissolve yeast and sugar in 1 1/2 TBSP of water. After about 5 min. (when yeast starts to fizz and bubble) add 1 cup of flour into mixture. Mix and add salt and shortening. add remaining flour slowly, mixing well. Dough should be sticky and moist. Lightly oil a large bowl, add dough and cover with plastic wrap. Let
raise for two hours. Knead dough down for about 4 min. Cover and let raise again. Preheat oven to 450 degrees. Put dough into pan and make several slashes across the top with a knife. Bake for 15 min. Without opening the oven, turn the temperature down to 350 and bake 30-40 min.
